These Sweet Feet Need Shoes…
Shoes, shoes, shoes!!! Zapatos!! This is what we need for our upcoming trip back to Guatemala. We return with a team on May 25 and many of you wonderful people have been asking what donations we need for this journey. On our last trip here just under 2 months ago, our hearts were broken in the community near the garbage dump by the desperate need for shoes by the children and adults living there. The teams had tables full of clothes, toiletries, school supplies and other donations but the shoes went so fast we were all so broken-hearted that we had not brought more. Families were so quick to turn down the opportunity for a cute dress for a solid pair of sneakers. So that is what we are focusing on for this trip. We will ALWAYS be able to use the usual donations: baby supplies, clothes, OTC medicines, toys, etc. However, we are asking for everyone to clean out their closets, hit the yard sales, and even look for good deals on new shoes to help us carry as many shoes as possible back to this community.
We need them for men and women, boys and girls. Brand new is great but good quality used is fine, too. Flip flops, Crocs, Sneakers, dress shoes, any type will do!
One Special Request
The sweet feet in the picture at the beginning of this post belong to one precious child we actually met in the community. As you can see, his foot is somewhat deformed making it even more difficult to find shoes for him. He was about 5 years old. I know that’s vague, but that’s all the info I have. If anyone has any help to offer in the way of some kind of special shoes or solution for his sweet feet, please….we’re all ears!
Other Donations Needed
We are also requesting more CUPCAKE SUPPLIES! You all were so amazing to help last time with that and it was so incredibly successful! But we used up and gave away everything on the last trip (which is wonderful!), and would like to re-do that activity this time around. So….please send:
