I knew I could never forget the children, families and communities we had met along the way…

After spending several years traveling internationally to bring home our children through adoption, I knew I could never forget the children, families, and communities we had met along the way. Children languishing in orphanages were no longer just nameless faces on a news report, I now knew their names. Families whose stories were obscured by poverty, politics, and prejudice had opened up their homes to me, fed me, embraced me, and shared their stories of struggle in the sacred exchange of friendship. Communities with dirt floor homes, surrounded by the oppression of landfills and forgotten by the world, welcomed me into their stories of survival, hope, and refusal to renounce their dreams for a better future. I did not change them. They changed me. It is this journey that I want to share with you. It is not enough to just send a financial gift. We want to have dirty hands and feet worn out from meeting our neighbors and serving them, wherever we happen to find them. Join us…your neighbor is waiting to welcome you in. And you will never be the same again…
