There is a story that only your life can write. “Too small” does not exist in the story God is writing for each of us…

Past Projects

  • Disaster Relief

When a community is devastated by natural disaster, a bottle of water, cleaning supplies, or a hot meal suddenly become far more than just pragmatic relief. Each small act of kindness means someone cares about your trauma, cares about YOU. Healing Projects has brought relief and recovery after ice storms, hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes. Hundreds of volunteers have given their time and resources to personally pack, transport, and deliver tangible gifts of love to thousands of victims and survivors. We strive to work with local leaders and survivors to ensure our efforts are targeted and truly beneficial. Disaster relief can be complicated and sometimes unintentionally “get in the way” of official emergency response teams. We are committed to doing our work in a way that is truly helpful, and not a hindrance to community response and recovery.

  • Community Building

“You don’t give people dignity. You affirm it.” -John Perkins

One of the core values at Healing Projects is summed up in these words. When we serve a community, whether locally or globally, or goal is not to seek to impose our own agenda, but to affirm and resource the treasures already there.

We are committed to care that is:

-Partnered with local leaders and community life

-Enhances the gifts of those in the community

-Relationship-building both for our teams serving to connect with long-term friendships, as well as strengthening connections between families and individuals inside of the community

Some of our past projects to build community:

-Free workshops and classes for communities, families, and training or educational organizations in parenting, physical therapy, music and art, trauma awareness, bonding and attachment, and other areas as needed and available

-Cupcake creation with survivors of abuse, violence, trafficking, and poverty

-Pizza and free coat parties for students

    -Valentine’s dinner for single moms

-Support and service alongside local serving organizations led by local leaders such as community kitchens

-Parenting classes and supply giveaways for teenaged parents

  • Global Teams

Since 2009, Healing Projects has led teams to serve in various locations in the United States, China, and Guatemala. Our goal in service is always to “leave something behind”. Whether that involves training, support for existing local efforts, or ongoing partnerships, our team trips are designed for sustainable support. Global teams are meant to not only serve the community destination, but to build relationships, be trained and equipped, and discover their own unique gifts to serve inside the team itself.

Some of the locations where our teams have served include:

    -orphanages

    -prisons

-landfill communities (homes built around a local landfill where families scavenge daily for resources and food)

    -training facilities for medical students

-schools and home for blind children who are orphans

    -schools in impoverished communities

-inner cities both in the United States and abroad
